Grand Bay Christmas Parade, Dec. 3rd—An Outreach Success

Union Church participated with the only horse-drawn float in the annual Grand Bay Christmas Parade on the evening of December 3, 2022. The float was pulled by Buddy and Molly, two beautiful Belgium Haflinger horses, loaded with members and friends with their children who threw candy while adults walked along passing out information about our church.

Many donated candy that filled two bushels baskets of candy for the kids to throw. Ironically, that was about half enough for the many people all along the 2.3-mile parade route.

Along with the banners on the wagon showing UBC’s participation, Gabe and Michelle Shaver walked the 2.3 miles passing out 380 flyers about the Church and 122 flyers about the Preschool. The flyer about UBC (see above) shared the news that Bro. Jason Newell is joining our ministry. Mandy and Tom Browning also walked beside the float greeting the thousands of happy kids and adults along the route.

Sterling and Helen Hines drove the Church Van to bring riders and helped decorate the “float”.

The sponsorship fee was donated by 6 members in a recent Church Council meeting. The float and horses were donated by the owner, Ted Strange, a longtime resident of the community along with his friend Danny and the two trucks and trailer that hauled them. The horses and special purpose “wagon” made a great impression for the first time UBC participated in this annual event.
